Applied Rule

Most learners spend years mastering grammar and vocabulary but eventually plateau. The difference between being fluent and having native accent is pitch. akusento makes the invisible easily accessible: instant, structured pitch accent annotations for any Japanese text, so you can finally see what you've been missing.

1 Paste any Japanese text — words, sentences, or full paragraphs or even entire books
2 Instantly receive mora-level precise, pitch-annotated output. See directly where each word rises and falls in full natural sentence context.
3 Powered by MeCab and Unidic to ensure accurate morpheme level parsing
3 Effortlessly handles and explains hundreds of sentence level pitch accent rules, edge-cases and changes. These rules are dynamically applied by the custom parser and are the result of years of dedicated research and pitch accent study.

akusento is currently a research preview of a context-aware Japanese pitch accent parser for standard Tokyo Japanese. The public site currently provides a guide and cached examples showing mora-level pitch drops, furigana, devoicing, and rules applied to particles, conjugations, compounds, and other sentence-level changes. The live parser backend is not public.
